SIENA

Siena, of Etruscan origin and later a Roman colony, is considered the sole living model of a mediaeval city. Its layout is today almost exactly as it was in the 14th century and the historical centre is packed with majestic Gothic buildings. Siena, like Rome, is built on seven hills. One minute the city is laid out before you and the next you are completely surrounded by ancient buildings.

SAN GIMIGNANO

San Gimignano is a small medieval city famous for its many towers (13 of the original 72 remain) and encircled by walls, which have remained intact through the centuries. It is situated on the top of a hill in the heart of the countryside between Florence and Siena. One of the most attractive small towns in Tuscany.
